Fabric canopies in different styles and materials are available for any kind of outdoor needs. Canopies are very versatile can be used for any occasion. There are simple shade canopies which provide shelter from the sun. A garden canopy looks beautiful in the surroundings and provides relaxation. One can get canopies of different sizes based on one’s needs. The word canopy came from Greece and earlier, buildings had projections which provided protection from rain and sun.

Tents are also types of canopies made of fabric. These are generally used for recreational purposes like holding functions, parties, weddings or as camping shelters. Depending on the need, the size of tents varies. It can be so small that it can only accommodate a single person or so big that thousands of people can stand underneath it. Portable tents are very handy for campers and backpackers. They are very light in weight and installing one takes few minutes while traditional tents take much longer to install. Usually, materials like canvas, nylon, and polyester are used for tents. Simple dome shaped tent is very common for backpacking and can be used by one or two persons for sleeping. Larger ones are used for weddings, banquets, and circus, with the latter accommodating thousands of people.
