Friday, December 4th, 2009

Assembling manmade objects to complement the surrounding landscape has been a p[art of the artistic talent that is present in every human being. Basically it has been seen that an artist and nature cannot be kept away from each other for a very long period of time as his works are inspired by the acts of nature.

In order to get closer to nature man has latched onto the art of gardening.

The various garden art forms that are seen in the world today are as follows:

* Mosaic garden art which makes use of colorful items like stones, glass/ multi colored bird baths as well as ceramic items.
* Glass art is basically that form in which materials are used to create a dreamy and wonderland effect by making use of the uneven spots in the garden.
* Garden wall art is basically that form which makes use of wall hangings, designs and other abstract forms of art to decorate the walls.
* Metal art is that form which makes use of lawn ornaments like iron furniture fixtures, copper and brass structures as well as abstract designed pieces of metal.

However, remember to create a soothing and harmonious environment when you use the following art form to deck up your garden décor.

Backyard covered sandbox and raised flower bed

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Plants have fascinated mankind from the pre historic times, and ever since there have been attempts to classify the different types of plants. Mankind has always been interested in plants and their cultivation for food as well as other usage. Hippocrates and Aristotle have been pioneers in the field of identifying and classifying plants and that’s why today one can identify and build a personal raised flower bed.

Ponds can be constructed in a variety of shapes from oval to rectangle to no particular shape at all. Size depends on the landscape that the pool is built in, as it should not be too overbearing or miniature. Generally ponds are not made too deep and the depth of 2-5 feet is considered enough. Not only is this a safety feature but also it makes the pool easier to maintain. If however, property-owners are looking to create ponds with flowering plants, the depth need not be increased. To keep children safe, you’d even need playground borders.

Natural cavities suitable for sandboxes are rare and even if they are present, need to be spruced up. Thus, the first step in creating a covered sandbox is to dig up a cavity of required proportions.

Garden Planning

I have just been to my friend`s house and I have been admiring her garden art. I had never really thought about decorating my garden in such a way and it looked really good. It helps that she has an enormous garden and so she had the space to put some really big statement pieces and they look fantastic. Of course we are not all lucky enough to be able to have such a grand garden. However it made me think that I could consider trying to copy it myself by having some pieces in a much smaller scale. At the moment I just have a couple of lawn ornaments and they do not really work where they are. I think I need to think harder about where to place them so that they fit in with the garden design better and also to plan the planting so that they all look good together. Then I might be able to incorporate a few new pieces to make a feature of in the garden. I am really looking forward to the challenge and I am sure that I can come up with something which will look really good and will improve our outdoor environment.
